Job Description

Grinder for Steel Bumpers- 1st shift 5:00AM to 1:30PM M-F
Starting wage 14.70/hr.

Job Summary:

Grind nickel, copper and rust pits off bumpersĀ  down to base metal in the restoration process.

Essential Job Duties:

Grind copper and nickel off bumper, grid out rust pits or hammer out rust pits, tap out low or high spots in

bumper, maintain equipment (grinders and hammers). Cut down used discs so they can be reused. Know how

to use cones in grinding process. Make sure bumpers get put back on same tree. Stamp bumpers so they can

be identified as to who ground them. Maintain orderliness and housekeeping of assigned work areas. Complies

with established policies and procedures. Complies with all PPE (personal protection equipment) standards

appropriate for the job. Assumes other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications (Minimum Required Experience, Education, Knowledge/Skills/Abilities, Essential Physical

Demands):

Education & Experience: High School graduate or G.E.D. and/or equivalent work experience desired. Prior

grinding, sanding, machining, auto body experience preferred, and supplemented by on-the-job training.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to work in cooperation with others. Must be attentive to detail

and ensure accuracy in work assignments. Must be able to take direction from supervisors. Must be able to

communicate effectively with others. Must have the flexibility to work variable schedules, including weekends.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment: This position requires individuals to constantly be on

their feet except when operating machinery. They must be able to stand for long periods, sit, walk, push, pull,

bend, climb and be able to move/lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Should

be able to tolerate high and low temperature levels. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold

and extreme heat. Must be able to work in a dusty work environment. The noise level in the work

environment is moderately loud.

Preferred Qualifications: Some manufacturing experience and be able to work independently.

Decision Making Examples:

The knowledge to determine whether a bumper is junk or salvageable. The ability to determine what tools to

use for each bumper.
