Job Description

Primary role of a Cashier includes scanning merchandise, applying discounts, processing payments, and handling returns. Cashiers also take responsibility for being the first and last impression for customers and must provide a pleasant greeting, answering questions about merchandise, store policies, ongoing promotions, and thanking each customer as they leave. Head Cashiers will oversee the front end of the store, maximize service and productivity on sales floor and resolve situations to the satisfaction of the customer

Job Requirements

POS - Point of Sale

  • Advanced knowledge of all POS policies and procedures
  • Effectively train and direct the activities of other cashiers and set the standard for customer service at the register
  • Organize the Cash Register area and ensure system is being followed
  • Ensure return merchandise is restocked to the correct product location on the sales floor, all damaged and defective merchandise is properly labeled
  • Communicate policy or procedure changes to other cashiers and associates as necessary

Customer Service

  • Able to tactfully and pleasantly deal with customers
  • Set the standard for customer service as it adheres with company expectations
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
  • Perform register sales transaction quickly and accurately in accordance with established cash control procedures and customer service guidelines

Front End

  • Ensure that merchandise displays in the front-end area re clean, organized and well-stocked
  • Notify manager of ordering needs when necessary
  • Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management
