Job Description

The Program Manager will define and execute best practice strategies to manage aged receivables and optimize collection outreach activities to achieve targeted goals. They will supervise the collections practices of our regional and line of business collections teams. They will have responsibility for the functionality of systems solutions to effectively achieve their assigned goals.  Primary duties consist of:
•    Develop and implement collections processes and policies that improve the daily operations of the collections teams, ultimately resulting in improved cash flow and lower bad debt.
•    Optimize diligent cash collection and portfolio management by ensuring timely and accurate collections processes and practices.
•    Lead the efforts to implement and manage regionalized collections efforts.
•    Ensuring operational effectiveness through effective standards and reporting metrics.
•    Shaping, implementing, monitoring and continuously improving collections.
•    Partner with the Credit Team who establish credit granting procedures and risk management policies.
•    Partner with the AR team who administers and enforces cash application policies and procedures.
•    Recommends opportunities for and evaluates opportunities to offshore and outsourced functions to manage costs and increase service levels for the internal and external customers of supported by the department.

Other duties include:
•    Guiding the development of the North American regional collections teams.
•    Manage and prioritize all collection activities and risk mitigation activities across all North American business units in the US and Canada.
•    Partner in the formulation and maintenance of the monthly analysis of receivable reserves and allowance for doubtful accounts.
•    Actively engage legal team to manage high risk relationships and minimize exposure due to preference suits in bankruptcy cases.
•    Effectively coordinate with corporate and region management, other departments, and the field organization to ensure coordination of, and support for Collection activity.
•    Effectively manage the activities of offshore and outsourced support teams that directly support the North American Credit and Collection activity, ensuring adherence to service level targets and contractual obligations.
•    Develop and maintain departmental statistics which reflect the department’s effectiveness in process and enforcing adherence to policy.
•    Provide required documentation and review support for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
•    Manage and support relations with internal and external audit teams.
•    Develop, mentor and maintain a high functioning team.
•    Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as required or requested.

Job Requirements

 Education & Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree required; Seven to nine years’ prior experience required in a Fortune 500 environment supporting, Retail, B2C, large and small commercial, and B2B industries.
•    Experience in leading and developing teams in resolving portfolios of large and small accounts, reducing aged A/R with maximum cash recovery and minimum.
•    Proven track record of minimizing portfolio collection risk and bad debt by establishing intelligent collections processes, thus reducing A/R delinquency and improving cash flow.
•    Demonstrated sound knowledge of Collection, Credit, and Cash Application systems and workflows.
•    Strong leadership, team development, mentoring/coaching, people management skills, as well as, very strong analytical skills.
•    Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
•    Maintain strong focus on details, working with complex issues.
•    Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement throughout the process and organization.
Machines, Equipment, and Software:
•    Computer, multi-user telephone system, copier, fax machine.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.
•    Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:
•    Ability to work under conditions of frequent interruptions and be attentive to detail.
•    Ability to travel as required.
•    Preferred Qualifications:
•    Degreed Accountant and/or Master’s Degree desired
