Job Summary:

Inspectmaterial received, perform failure analysis, and create inspection reportsdetermining the cause of failure to provide feedback to the factory andcustomer by performing the following duties

Essential JobDuties:

Understands basic theory and operation ofthe Automatic Transmission.

Examines and inspects defects of thetransmission and determines cause of failure.

Keys information into computer to compilework volume statistics for accounting purposes and to keep records ofcustomer service requests and complaints.

Procure and maintain all supplies, toolsand equipment for technical employees.

Create inspection reports includinginspection images

InspectAutomatic Transmissions according to Warranty procedure (P0583001).
Determine causes of failure (root causeswhen possible), assigning correct failure codes.

Maintains harmony among workers

Be familiar with ATK internal Policies,values, and ATK Quality Policy

Be aware of his/her process/sub processand know related procedures

Maintain a safe and clean work environment(control of house keeping record R0164001).

Be familiar with ATK’s Code of Safe WorkPractices.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:  TransmissionBuilder/Transmission Machinist; One to two years related experience and/ortraining; or Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university; orequivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read andinterpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups ofcustomers or employees of organizations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure,using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentand to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concretevariables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructionsfurnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Essential PhysicalDemands/Work Environment: Be able to lift up to 60 lbs (if presented withmaterial that is at a weight greater than one’s personal comfort level, anyemployee has the ability to request assistance). Stand for extended periods oftime. Should be able to tolerate high and lowtemperature levels. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold andextreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
