Job Description

LKQ a rapidly growing company is presently looking for a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Operations Manager position in our Sumner, Washington facility.  
LKQ Corporation is the largest nationwide provider of aftermarket collision replacement products, recycled OEM products and refurbished OEM collision replacement products such as wheels, bumper covers and lights to repair light vehicles. Additionally, we are a leading distributor of paint and body shop supplies.
We serve tens of thousands of collision-repair businesses, mechanical service shops and vehicle dealerships throughout the United States and Canada.
Summary/Objective

The operations manager position manages local scheduling and real-time operations that facilitate the maximization of resources (human and automated) to achieve customer satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence and achieving key performance indicator goals.



Essential Functions

  1. Interfaces with facility operations management to ensure smooth -coordination of scheduling and maximization of schedule adherence; provides input on local conditions, identifies needs and receives direction on real-time staffing attendance.

  2. Ensures operations dispatchers manage schedule adherence notifying and escalating within the site and within the network as warranted; ensures communication of real-time staffing realignment to operations supervisors.

  3. Enacts contingency plans as needed; escalates and directs activities during systems problems, disasters, etc.; identifies potential problems, troubleshoots, escalates issues to local and network management, and participates in post-mortem analysis of problems providing input for future process improvements.

  4. Approves schedules developed by supervision and communicates schedules and handle exceptions.

  5. Reviews ongoing performance results to key performance indicators. Takes corrective measures with authorization, escalate as needed.

  6. Participates in daily, weekly, monthly and annual planning process as appropriate.

  7. Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.

  8. Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster aid promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.

  9. Projects a favorable image of LKQ Corporation to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance in the automotive parts marketplace.

  10. Keeps General Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.

  11. Performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned.

  12. Maintains a qualified staff.

  13. Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned

  14. Determines standards of performance as a basis to review progress of personnel assigned.

  15. Recommends salary adjustments. transfers, promotions and dismissals.

  16. Ensures proper training of personnel assigned.

  17. Fosters a cooperative and harmonious working climate conductive to maximize employee morale and productivity.

  18. Develops individuals for future advancement.

  19. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Supervisory Responsibility


This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for leadership, performance management and hiring of the employees within the operations department.


Work Environment


This job operates in a professional warehouse/distribution center environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Physical Demands


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.


This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.



Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.



Travel


Travel is primarily locally during the business day, although occasional travel to other LKQ Corporation sites may be required.
Required Education and Experience



  1. Bachelor's degree in operations management, business management or equivalent and 5-7 years previous operations management experience, including forecasting, scheduling and real-time operations management. Additional years of experience and track record of successfully improve ments in a distribution center's performance may be considered a substitute for a full four year Bachelor's degree.

  2. Experience in a production or distribution center environment.

  3. Experience supervising, coaching and developing staff.

  4. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and related software.

  5. Basic accounting skills, P&L, annual budgets


Preferred Education & Experience



  1. Working knowledge of Automotive Parts Distribution industry.

  2. Experienced public speaking skills desirable.
